TAME took a moment to chat with Wood ReNew & Tile ReNew owner, Bret McGowne, to learn more about how they keep their pet loving clients happy. While Bret started out keeping wood floors looking good, he eventually learned that clients needed help with other surfaces too. And, not just during a few months of the year.

1. What makes your company and products special?

Our tile restoration process features a unique 3-step process for cleaning and sealing tile and grout floors.  We start by cleaning the floor with a high pressure extractor and a mild cleaner to remove everyday dirt and soils.  We follow this with a more aggressive cleaner which is applied to the porous grout line and again, we use the high pressure extractor to clean the tile and grout.  After this two-step clean, our third step is to apply a sealer to the grout line.  This sealer prevents soils from getting trapped in the pores of the grout and makes it easier for the home owner to clean and maintain the floor themselves.


2.   What about the company are you most proud of?

While our process, procedures and cleaners can't be matched, I'm most proud of the people we have.  All of our employees are background checked and drug screened.  They are thoroughly trained and are eager to provide a great experience for our customers.


3.   What do your customers say about you?

Our customers tend to be most impressed by the fact that we do what we say we'll do.  If there might be issues or problems, we try to bring them up early so there are no surprises.  Just being upfront and honest with customers about what we'll do and what they can expect sets us apart.

1.      How did you get your start with Tile Renew?

I started work for Wood ReNew in 2004 and ran the Springfield office.  In 2005 we started our new venture, Tile ReNew and I was in charge of starting that business and making it grow!  In 2008 I bought the Springfield Wood ReNew franchise as well as the Tile ReNew business.  The Branson Wood ReNew franchise came up for sale in 2009 so I added that office to the mix as well.

2.      Tell us about your/company background?

Tile ReNew was started in 2005 as way to offset the seasonal fluctuations of our other business, Wood ReNew.  Wood ReNew is very busy in the spring and summer months and fairly slow in the fall and winter.  We thought we could keep our guys busy in the winter cleaning floors before or after holiday parties.  As it turns out, floors get dirty all year long so we stay busy 12 months a year and not just in the winter!

3.      Tell us about the staff at Tile Renew?

Eric McVey is the District Sales Manager for Tile Renew.  He has been with the company for almost 5 years now and started out doing decks as well as cross-training on floor restorations.  In 2009 when I bought Branson, Eric took on the responsibility of sales for Tile ReNew as well as our Branson Wood ReNew operation.
